Church Draft Roundup
Well, the books are closed on the Ecclesiastical Draft for 2010. My completed draft board looks like this:
Rd 1: Ignatius of Loyola
Rd 2: Gregory the Great
Rd 3: Phoebe Palmer
Rd 4: Julian of Norwich
Rd 5: JRR Tolkien
Rd 6: Janani Luwum
Rd 7: the Alexandrian Washerwoman
I’m exceedingly pleased with the lineup the Expat front office put together: covering 2 millenia of church history, 6 countries on 3 different continents, gender parity, lay & clergy, spanning the spectrum of denominational & theological heritages. The positions which could be filled by team members include: Mystics, monastics, musicians, and missionaries; pastors, preachers, and prophets; authors and administrators; scholars and servants…and many more!
There are of course deficiencies: no Biblical persons, no post-reformation theologians. Social justice & evangelism could be stronger, as could music & the arts. These are some areas I’m looking forward to rounding out from the free agent pool, drawing the total membership of our team to a celestially perfect 12.
If you haven’t already voted in the polls on the Church Draft homepage, I’d appreciate your votes! Thanks for playing with us!
